USC football: Relationship with Donte Williams standing out for 5-star prospect

North Shore (Houston) cornerback Devin Sanchez is one of the top recruits in the 2025 class

North Shore (Houston) cornerback Devin Sanchez is one of the top recruits in the 2025 class. The five-star prospect is ranked as the No. 6 overall recruit nationally by the 247Sports.com composite.

At the Overtime OT7 National Championships in Southern California last week, 247Sports.com's Mike Roach caught up with Sanchez to discuss his top schools. He mentioned Alabama, Ohio State and a few other programs including USC.

Sanchez's relationship with cornerbacks coach Donte Williams has been big factor in his USC interest.

"Coach Williams is another real dude," Sanchez said. "He's real straight on trying to get you to the league. Just being around him and the way he coaches, not many coaches get on the field with their DBs and put on the cleats and do reps with them. He does that so I feel like that's another big step."

Sanchez has received 32 scholarship offers — virtually all of the top programs nationally are in on him. USC fans should remember the name.

WHO'S COMMITTED TO USC IN JUNE?

USC hosted 12 official visitors the first weekend of June and the Trojans staff has landed seven commitments from that group so far.

Three-star Cherry Creek (Englewood, Colo.) offensive lineman Hayden Treter was the first player who visited to give a verbal to the Trojans. He announced his decision on June 4. Later that day, four-star Clearwater (Fla.) safety Jarvis Boatwright also picked USC.

A day later, four-star Serra (Gardena, Calif.) cornerback Dakoda Fields and four-star Booker T. Washington (Atlanta) defensive end Kameryn Fountain committed, but USC still wasn't done. The Trojans secured a verbal pledge from four-star Central Catholic (Modesto, Calif.) offensive lineman Manasse Itete later that day too.

In the last two weeks, four-star Cheshire Academy (Conn.) linebacker Elijah Newby and four-star Hiram (Ga.) tight end Walter Matthews committed.

Four-star St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) cornerback Marcelles Williams and four-star Clearwater Academy (Fla.) offensive lineman Jason Zandamella both committed this past week.
