Marquis Gallegos chooses USC, Trojans receive commitment from 4-star safety

Gallegos picked USC over his other finalists of Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon and Notre Dame

Another day, another recruiting win for USC.

A day after four-star Millikan (Long Beach, Calif.) wideout Ryan Pellum verbally committed to USC, 2024 four-star Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.) safety Marquis Gallegos also picked the Trojans. He announced his commitment on Instagram.

Gallegos is 6-foot-1 and weighs 175 pounds. He's rated as the No. 253 prospect nationally and the No. 21 safety in the 247Sports.com composite. Gallegos recently transferred to Sierra Canyon after spending the previous three seasons at Chaminade (West Hills, Calif.). Gallegos is the second player from Sierra Canyon to commit to USC this cycle joining four-star wide receiver Xavier Jordan.

Gallegos picked USC over his other finalists of Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon and Notre Dame. He officially visited USC the weekend of June 16.

With Gallegos' pledge, USC now has 14 committed players in its 2024 class. Eleven of those players committed this month.

Three-star Cherry Creek (Englewood, Colo.) offensive lineman Hayden Treter was the first player give a verbal to the Trojans in June. He announced his decision on June 4. Later that day, four-star Clearwater (Fla.) safety Jarvis Boatwright also picked USC.

A day later, four-star Serra (Gardena, Calif.) cornerback Dakoda Fields and four-star Booker T. Washington (Atlanta) defensive end Kameryn Fountain committed, but USC still wasn't done. The Trojans secured a verbal pledge from four-star Central Catholic (Modesto, Calif.) offensive lineman Manasse Itete that day too.

In the last three weeks, four-star Cheshire Academy (Conn.) linebacker Elijah Newby and four-star Hiram (Ga.) tight end Walter Matthews committed.

Four-star St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) cornerback Marcelles Williams and four-star Clearwater Academy (Fla.) offensive lineman Jason Zandamella both committed last week.

This week, it was Pellum and Gallegos' turn.
