USC football: Trojans predicted to land 4-star cornerback

Zabien Brown is the No. 56 overall prospect in the 2024 class

Two weeks ago, Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) cornerback Zabien Brown officially visited USC. Following the trip, On3.com has predicted that USC is the most likely destination for Brown.

“The feeling around Brown’s recruitment has been he would likely stay out West for his college ball,” recruiting analyst Justin Hopkins said. “Between him eliminating Oregon from consideration and the Trojans’ hot streak of late, I like where USC sits for the four-star from Mater Dei.”

Brown initially released a top four earlier this year of USC, Oregon, Alabama and Ohio State, but he's now down to three programs.

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine currently gives USC an 87.9% chance of landing Brown.

Brown is the No. 56 overall prospect and No. 7 cornerback in the 2024 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.

If the Trojans did manage to receive a commitment from the four-star cornerback prospect, that would give USC its third top 100 rated defensive player in the 2024 class. Last week four-star Serra (Gardena, Calif.) cornerback Dakoda Fields and four-star Booker T. Washington (Atlanta) defensive lineman Kameryn Fountain, two top 100 prospects, both pledged to USC.

The Trojans landed only one top 100 defensive prospect in their 2023 recruiting class in Friendswood (Texas) defensive lineman Braylan Shelby.

RECRUITING MOMENTUM

In the last eight days, USC has added six total commits. All six prospects officially visited the same weekend as Brown.

Three-star Cherry Creek (Englewood, Colo.) offensive lineman Hayden Treter was the first player who visited to give a verbal to the Trojans. He announced his decision on Sunday morning. Later that day, four-star Clearwater (Fla.) safety Jarvis Boatwright also picked USC.

On Monday, Fields and Fountain committed, but USC still wasn't done. The Trojans secured a verbal pledge from four-star Central Catholic (Modesto, Calif.) offensive lineman Manasse Itete later that day too.

Then on Friday, four-star 2024 Cheshire Academy (Conn.) linebacker Elijah Newby committed to USC.

Could Brown be the next domino to fall?
