247Sports Ranks Cam Rising as No. 10 Quarterback in 2024

247Sports analyst Brad Crawford ranked Cam Rising within the top 10 on his list of the top 25 quarterbacks for the 2024 CFB season.

The college football analyst placed Utah’s seventh-year starting quarterback at No. 10 in his early spring ranking. Rising is Crawford’s third-highest-ranked Big 12 quarterback.

At No. 10, the Utah man’s ranking was beaten by Colorado's Shedeur Sanders (No. 2) and Arizona’s Noah Fifita (No. 5).

“Rarely does a quarterback with a pair of conference championships to his credit return for a seventh season,” said Crawford in his outlook on the Utah signal caller:

“But Cameron Rising gave it another go after missing the 2023 season with a knee injury. The Utes enter the Big 12, and according to most projections, are a playoff contender as one of the league's new frontrunners. Rising made big plays in crucial moments during his career and has seen just about everything as a starting quarterback.”

With a whopping six years of college football under his belt, Rising does have more experience than almost every other quarterback in college football. Experience that should lend to Utah’s Big 12 title hopes in 2024.

That being said, Rising is a hard quarterback to rank.

As the Utes starting quarterback in 2021 and 2022, he was electric, throwing for a combined 46 touchdowns and over 5,500 yards. Moreover, Rising provided the Utes with a consistent dual threat, rushing for over 450 yards with six touchdowns in each of his starting seasons respectively.

Despite all this success, injuries have been a considerable burden to Rising’s illustrious career. After suffering several costly, but not season-ending, injuries earlier in his tenure with the Utes, Rising would tear his ACL, meniscus, MPFL, and MCL in the team's 2022 Rose Bowl game, causing him to miss the entirety of the 2024 season.

Reports say that Rising is fully healthy and ready for the 2024 season. While spring practices will give good insight into the validity of this claim, Rising’s ability won’t be on full display until the Utes’ 2024 season opener against Southern Utah on August 29th.

If Rising can play at a similar ability to what he played at in 2021 and 2022, Utah should be in good hands. The Utes worked hard in the offseason, surrounding their offensive leader with arguably the most talented offensive group of his career.

With a throng of talent in Dorian Singer, Taeshaun Lyons, Brant Kuithe, Money Parks, and Landen King, Rising will have no shortage of pass-catching options to help him in 2024.
