Takeaways
Virginia has a more balanced offensive approach, getting the job done with base hits more often than the long ball. UVA has the 8th-best offense in college baseball behind its No. 1-ranked team batting average and No. 6-ranked on-base percentage. Florida, on the other hand, relies heavily on single big swings to change games. The Gators have hit 129 home runs this season, 4th-most in all of college baseball, and their .546 slugging percentage is also ranked in the top 10.
From a pitching standpoint, Virginia's pitching is marginally better statistically, ranking 4th in the country in terms of both team ERA and strikeout-to-walk ratio. UVA's pitching staff also has a 1.30 WHIP (Walks and Hits per Inning Pitched), which ranks 10th in Division I. Florida ranks between 30-35 nationally in those categories, but the Gator pitchers record more strikeouts, averaging 10.8 strikeouts per nine innings, which ranks 7th in the country.

Of course, this game will all come down to how each team executes. But based on the stats, the key for Virginia will be to keep the hits from the Florida batters in the ball park and to put the ball in play against the strikeout-heavy Gator pitchers.
No. 7 seed Virginia (50-13) will open play at the 2023 College World Series against No. 2 seed Florida (50-15) on Friday, June 16th at 7pm ET at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
