Virginia Baseball Rankings Roundup: UVA Slips After Duke Series Loss

After winning nine of its previous ten games, including a big series win over Wake Forest and a three-game sweep at Pittsburgh, Virginia had its momentum disrupted in a series loss at Duke this weekend. In a rematch of the 2023 Charlottesville Super Regional, the Blue Devils got their revenge on the Cavaliers in this showdown between top 15 opponents by taking two out of three games off of UVA.

Subsequently, Virginia has taken a dip across each of the college baseball polls and rankings, but the Cavaliers are still a consensus top 15 team in the country. See a summary of UVA's current positioning in each of the college baseball polls below:

D1Baseball: Virginia falls from No. 9 to No. 15

Perfect Game: Virginia drops from No. 10 to No. 13

Baseball America: Virginia drops from No. 8 to No. 12

USA TODAY Coaches Poll: Virginia drops from No. 8 to No. 11

National College Baseball Writers Association: Virginia drops from No. 6 to No. 11

Duke took Virginia's spot at No. 9 in the D1Baseball Top 25 and is now ranked in the top 10 in each of the polls.

Virginia (22-6, 7-5 ACC) will look to get back on track as it opens a six-game homestand against Old Dominion on Tuesday at 6pm at Disharoon Park. The Cavaliers will then take on another highly-ranked opponent as No. 10 North Carolina comes to Charlottesville for a three-game series beginning on Thursday at 7pm.
