Tony Elliott and the Cavaliers beat out three rival ACC programs for a priority recruiting target in the class of 2024. Three-star wide receiver Triston Ward announced his commitment to Virginia on Friday, choosing UVA over offers from Duke, Pittsburgh, Boston College and others.

"I am extremely proud to announce my commitment to play division 1 football at the University of Virginia!" Ward said in a social media post.

Ward held offers from Duke, Pittsburgh, Boston College, Massachusetts, and UConn. Virginia officially offered Ward back on May 3rd and he took an official visit to UVA from June 9th to 11th. Ward had been a big fan of Virginia since his childhood and his visit confirmed that UVA - both as a school and as a football program - was the right place for him.

A 6'1", 185-pound wideout out of Deerfield Academy in Deerfield, Massachusetts, Ward is rated a three-star prospect on 247Sports as well as the No. 176 wide receiver in the class of 2024 and the No. 8 overall recruit in the state of Massachusetts.

In his junior season at Deerfield Academy last fall, Ward recorded 51 catches for 1,167 yards and 16 touchdowns. Watch Ward's junior season highlights via Hudl in the video below:

Ward is the second wide receiver from the 2024 recruiting class to commit to UVA, joining three-star Christian Zachary (Saint Matthews, SC).

Triston Ward is the ninth recruit to verbally commit to the Virginia football recruiting class of 2024:
