With national media members in attendance, including ESPN's Adam Rittenberg, Kalen DeBoer's squad wanted to put on a show. While the Washington offense was a little out of sync to start, both sides of the ball were firing on all cylinders by the end of Monday's practice.

The Husky offense still won the day, ripping off big plays left and right, highlighted by a 70-yard rushing touchdown from running back Sam Adams, and a 60-yard catch and run from wide receiver Ja'Lynn Polk. However, the MVP of the day was cornerback Thaddeus Dixon, who intercepted backup quarterback Dylan Morris twice.

Dixon also had an interception during the team's second scrimmage, giving him three over the last two practices. On Friday, DeBoer said that the team has really embraced and respects the junior college transfer, who plays with no shortage of confidence.

While he still took reps with the second team, the Husky defense clearly made strides in the red zone on Monday. They were much stingier, and while the unstoppable force that is the Washington offense was still able to find the end zone, the defense has improved a lot since the end of the 2022 season.

Notes and observations

Sophomore defensive tackle Jayvon Parker continues to wreak havoc on the interior, and recorded another pressure on Dylan Morris during Monday's practice.

Wide receiver Jalen McMillan has had a somewhat quiet spring by his standards, through no fault of his own, simply because his running mate Rome Odunze has been difficult to defend. On Monday, though, McMillan made arguably the play of the day, reeling in a one-handed catch over Kamren Fabiculanen for a 47-yard gain.

The wide receiver room continued to stand out on Monday, holding true to the narrative that it is arguably the best group in the entire country. Taj Davis made an impressive tiptoe grab on the sidelines, and Polk made a few big plays outside of his 60-yarder.

I've followed the Huskies for my entire life, and to be in a position where I get to cover them full-time is nothing short of an honor. After graduating from Lasell University in 2019, I moved to Seattle to pursue my dream of working in sports media. While writing for the Husky Haul, I also covered local sports for the Everett Daily Herald before the COVID-19 pandemic. After being hired by Realdawg.com in February of 2021, I also transitioned into doing a lot of entertainment writing, as I work on a variety of magazines as a contributing writer for Centennial Media, and have also contributed to Emmy Magazine, as well as Walt Disney Television Studios.
