Former Four-Star OL Myles Murao Hits The Portal

In this story:
When Myles Murao originally committed to Washington out of Mater Dei High School in California, it was an unprecedented victory for offensive-line coach Scott Huff. Murao was considered the best offensive lineman on the West Coast and chose Washington over a lot of the traditional college football powers.
However, Murao has opted to enter the transfer portal following the conclusion of spring practice. The former four-star recruit saw action in four games over the course of the 2022 season and should have three years of eligibility to use at his next destination.
Adjusting to playing on the interior wasn't easy for Murao, who played left tackle in high school but was asked to move to center in college. He also struggled with injuries throughout his high school and college career that significantly hindered his progression.

During spring practice in both 2021 and 2022, he suffered knee injuries that kept him from finishing out the month, and he also was plagued by a broken fibula in high school. He had high hopes when he got to school and expected to push for the starting job upon his arrival in 2020.
"I expected just to get to work right away," Murao said in 2022. "I wasn't sure if I was going to play because I knew there were a lot of good guys."
The 2018 MVP of California's Trinity League, arguably the strongest division for high school football in the country, should have plenty of options available to him in the portal. Most teams could always use an extra offensive lineman, and it wouldn't be a surprise if Murao ends up at one of the nation's better Group of 5 programs.

I've followed the Huskies for my entire life, and to be in a position where I get to cover them full-time is nothing short of an honor. After graduating from Lasell University in 2019, I moved to Seattle to pursue my dream of working in sports media. While writing for the Husky Haul, I also covered local sports for the Everett Daily Herald before the COVID-19 pandemic. After being hired by Realdawg.com in February of 2021, I also transitioned into doing a lot of entertainment writing, as I work on a variety of magazines as a contributing writer for Centennial Media, and have also contributed to Emmy Magazine, as well as Walt Disney Television Studios.
