New England Patriots Tender Myles Bryant

The Patriots re-signed former Washington DB Myles Bryant for another year

On the second day of the NFL's legal tampering period, head coach Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots decided to bring back former Husky defensive back Myles Bryant. Bryant was a restricted free agent, and the team decided to place the right of first refusal tender on him.

Bryant has been with the Patriots for three seasons, who originally signed him to their practice squad as an undrafted free agent following the 2020 NFL Draft. It's a one-year, $2.6 million deal.

Over his three years in Foxborough, Bryant has been a swiss army knife for Belichick's defense, playing all over the field. He's appeared in 38 games over those three seasons, and put up career highs in almost every category in 2022.

Last season Bryant appeared in every game for the first time in his career, recorded a personal best 65 total tackles, as well as six passes defended. He also grabbed the third interception of his career, picking off Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields.

The Patriots have made some investments in their secondary so far in free agency, by bringing back Bryant as well as cornerback Jonathan Jones, but could there be a bigger fish in their midst?

Bryant's fellow Washington alum Byron Murphy is also a free agent, and the Patriots have made it clear they need more help in the secondary, especially after longtime safety Devin McCourty announced his retirement. With a decent amount of wiggle room under the salary cap, the Patriots should be a candidate to land the services of another former Husky.
