The Huskies had standouts on both sides of the ball on Saturday.

In this story:

After each game, Kalen DeBoer and the rest of his University of Washington coaching staff hand out player of the game honors on Monday in a few different categories.

The coaches split the offense and defense into "power" categories for linemen, and "skill" for the rest of the players on the field.

After the Huskies' 43-10 over Tulsa, the following are the top three:

Offense — Rome Odunze

Even though he dropped a few passes, Odunze had a stellar day against the Golden Hurricane defense. The preseason first-team AP All-America pick finished his day with 7 catches for 107 yards and a touchdown. He also added a 14-yard rushing TD late in the third quarter and has continued to live up to the preseason hype.

Defense — Jabbar Muhammad

The Oklahoma State transfer had a complete day on Saturday. He recorded 4 tackles, a pass breakup, and a sack, while allowing just 2 catches for 16 yards. While his biggest tests are yet to come, Muhammad has asserted himself as Washington's No. 1 cornerback.

Special Teams— Jaden Green

Usually it's best when long snappers don't have their name in any postgame story unless they're making a tackle in punt coverage. Green bucked that trend when special-teams coordinator Eric Schmidt sent his unit out in a unique formation for an extra-point attempt.

After snapping the ball to Dylan Morris, Green ran the first pass route of his college career and caught the easy lob from the backup quarterback.

I've followed the Huskies for my entire life, and to be in a position where I get to cover them full-time is nothing short of an honor. After graduating from Lasell University in 2019, I moved to Seattle to pursue my dream of working in sports media. While writing for the Husky Haul, I also covered local sports for the Everett Daily Herald before the COVID-19 pandemic. After being hired by Realdawg.com in February of 2021, I also transitioned into doing a lot of entertainment writing, as I work on a variety of magazines as a contributing writer for Centennial Media, and have also contributed to Emmy Magazine, as well as Walt Disney Television Studios.
