The Washington Huskies have picked up recruiting momentum in recent weeks by adding commitments from offensive lineman Davit Boyajyan and safety Joshua Lair for the class of 2024 and could be in line to secure more in the near future.

With close to 50 recruits from various classes set to attend No. 7 Washington's matchup with eighth-ranked Oregon, the Huskies have a chance to make a major impression on the attendees.

A sold-out crowd and one of the most anticipated matchups ever between the rivals has provided Kalen DeBoer and his coaching staff with the best possible chance to show what a game-day atmosphere on Montlake can look like.

"I can see the excitement with our commits," DeBoer said on Monday. "Also with what would be considered the [2025] class, just the way they're looking at us and the excitement, the relationships just continue to go to another level. [Our success] has certainly had an impact."

Seven of the 14 members of Washington's 2024 class are expected to take an unofficial visit on Saturday and they'll be accompanied by top targets the coaching staff would love to add to the current recruiting class.

Other weekend visitors include 4-star defensive lineman Jericho Johnson, 4-star running back Jason Brown, 4-star tight ends Hogan Hansen and Elija Lofton — who are committed to Michigan and Miami, respectively — as well as 3-star defensive lineman Keona Wilhite.

The staff is looking for a few more big 2024 pieces, but its main focus is zeroing in on the currently empty class of 2025. That visitor list for that group is headlined by 4-star linebacker Zaydarius Rainey-Sale, 4-star quarterback Husan Longstreet, 4-star offensive lineman Douglas Utu and 3-star tight end Noah Flores.

Sources indicate the Washington coaching staff is pushing for 2025 inroads in terms of both size and caliber of player. With Washington's 5-0 start, dominance on the offensive side and ability to build relationships off the field, new commitments could turn into a reality sooner than expected.

If the Huskies can beat Oregon, commitments could follow shortly thereafter. As the UW continues to build momentum in recruiting and add more talent before the move to the Big Ten, Saturday's game against the Ducks could be seen as a big turning point in its world of talent acquisition.

I've followed the Huskies for my entire life, and to be in a position where I get to cover them full-time is nothing short of an honor. After graduating from Lasell University in 2019, I moved to Seattle to pursue my dream of working in sports media. While writing for the Husky Haul, I also covered local sports for the Everett Daily Herald before the COVID-19 pandemic. After being hired by Realdawg.com in February of 2021, I also transitioned into doing a lot of entertainment writing, as I work on a variety of magazines as a contributing writer for Centennial Media, and have also contributed to Emmy Magazine, as well as Walt Disney Television Studios.
