Big 12 Tournament Predictions

Filling out the Big 12 bracket.

FIRST ROUND picks with analysis

1. Texas vs. 8. Kansas

Prediction: Texas

Texas is red-hot right now. Fresh off a sweep of co-Big 12 champion, WVU, the Longhorns are the most dangerous team entering the tournament. Kansas stands no chance in this one. 

4. TCU vs. 5. Kansas State

Prediction: Kansas State.

A rematch of the regular season series finale and this time, it goes the Wildcats' way. Game three could have easily been won by K-State, it just took them too long to get the bats going. Nick Goodwin and Roberto Pena put their power on display and guide KSU past the Frogs.

2. Oklahoma State vs. 7. Oklahoma

Prediction: Oklahoma State.

OSU won the series over OU just this weekend. The Cowboys outscored the Sooners 24-3 in the two games they won. I doubt we will see another blowout but I'm not sure how Oklahoma cools down those bats. Oklahoma State is averaging 10.7 runs in their last six games. 

3. West Virginia vs. 6. Texas Tech

Prediction: West Virginia.

The Mountaineers took two of three from the Red Raiders last week and although they were swept by Texas, I see West Virginia bouncing back here. Randy Mazey has done a terrific job in his tenure with getting this team to go deep in the conference tournament, so I don't see them falling to the loser's bracket right away.

Prediction: Texas.

4. TCU vs. 8. Kansas

Prediction: TCU. Kansas is eliminated.

Prediction: Kansas State. TCU is eliminated

1. Texas vs. 5. Kansas State

Prediction: Texas.

WINNERS BRACKET BOTTOM HALF

2. Oklahoma State vs. 3. West Virginia

Prediction: Oklahoma State.

LOSERS BRACKET BOTTOM HALF

6. Texas Tech vs. 7. Oklahoma

Prediction: Oklahoma. Texas Tech is eliminated

3. West Virginia vs. 7. Oklahoma

Prediction: West Virginia. Oklahoma is eliminated.

BOTTOM HALF FINAL

2. Oklahoma State vs. 3. West Virginia

Prediction: West Virginia forces an elimination game.

2. Oklahoma State vs 3. West Virginia

Prediction: Oklahoma State. West Virginia is eliminated.

CHAMPIONSHIP

1. Texas vs. 2. Oklahoma State
