Through 6: The Rout is on

Morgantown, WV - The West Virginia Mountaineers (33-11) are in the comfortable confines of Monongalia County Ballpark battling the Pitt Panthers (20-21) in the second game of the Backyard Brawl and held a 4-0 advantage after three innings.
West Virginia starting pitcher Carson Estridge gave up a leadoff walk and followed by a single, before recording his sixth and seventh strikeouts of the evening to get out of the inning unscathed.
Mountaineer sophomore J.J. Wetherholt broke the game open in the bottom half of the inning, going opposite field for a three-run home run as WVU grew its advantage, 7-0.
Freshman Gavin Van Kempen took the mound in the fifth and threw two scoreless innings and registered three strikeouts.
West Virginia added a couple of runs in the sixth when Tevin Tucker received a one-out walk, took second on a wild pitch, stole third before Landon Wallace registered his third RBI of the night with a single into left field. Then, Braden Barry ripped a base hit into left field to score Wallace as the Mountaineers extended their lead, 9-0.
