The West Virginia Mountaineers have won three straight and are coming off an impressive road series win at Oklahoma last weekend. Now, additional help is on the way.

According to Kendall Rogers of D1Baseball, shortstop JJ Wetherholt, who has been out of the lineup since opening weekend with a hamstring injury, is expected to return for next weekend's road series against the Kansas Jayhawks (April 5-7).

Entering the year, Whetherholt was named the Big 12 Conference's preseason Player of the Year and was projected to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft by MLB.com, Baseball America, and Perfect Game.

As a sophomore in 2023, Wetherholt led the nation in batting average (.449) to go along with 16 homers, 60 RBI, and 36 stolen bases.
