WVU Baseball Tournament Projection - 5/11

The good times keep on rollin' for the Mountaineers as they moved to 37-12 on the season Wednesday night with a 9-8 win over the Pitt Panthers, sweeping the three-game season series.
West Virginia put up a six-run spot in the fifth to take a 9-3 lead and appeared to be well on their way to yet another blowout victory over their fierce rival but Pitt chipped away and made it a game.
In the latest NCAA Tournament projection by D1Baseball, West Virginia has moved to No. 7 overall in the country. This is a huge deal. If they remain in the top eight heading into the tournament, they will have home-field advantage all the way to the College World Series.
Below is the currently projected West Virginia regional:
1. West Virginia vs. 4. Wright State
2. Maryland vs 3. Texas State
Mazey's squad will have a chance to make a real statement to the selection committee this weekend when they host the Texas Tech Red Raiders (34-16, 9-9) for a three-game series, beginning Friday evening. Not only is this three-game set important in terms of positioning for the NCAA Tournament but it's also a chance to take another step closer toward a Big 12 regular season title.
