Tucker DeVries Will Play Final Season at West Virginia

Darian DeVries' son will follow him to Morgantown.

As expected, Drake guard Tucker DeVries will follow his father, Darian, to West Virginia.

During his introductory press conference Darian DeVries broke the news that Tucker will play his final year of college basketball in Morgantown.

"It's always nice when you get your first recruit. I had to work hard this morning to get that one done," he said. "The last three years I've had an opportunity to coach my son and that's something in this profession that you miss growing up. Whether it be weekend tournaments or whatever. So the last three years just from a dad perspective, I get a lot of that back and get to spend some day to day time. Now during practice and during games, he's back to player and I'm back to coach. He probably gets mad at me and I get mad at him a little bit, but we've enjoyed this ride together. We can't wait for this opportunity during his last year. We just love everything about this place and about this program."

DeVries led Drake in scoring in each of the last three years, averaging 13.9, 18.6, and 21.6 points per game. For his career, DeVries has shot 43% from the field and 35.9% from three-point range. He's also averaged 5.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.2 steals over 104 career games.

In the 66-61 loss to Washington State in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, DeVries notched 14 points on 6/18 shooting to go along with six assists and three rebounds.
