Kenyon Martin Jr. Schedules Official Visit with WVU

Once upon a time, West Virginia basketball coach Bob Huggins roamed the bench at the University of Cincinnati. Everyone knows about the amount of success he had with the Bearcats over his 16 years with the program, and perhaps the biggest propellant for that success was star forward & former No. 1 overall pick, Kenyon Martin.

As a senior in the 1999-00 season, Martin nearly averaged a double-double, posting 18.9 ppg and 9.7 rpg. As good as he was offensively, people raved about his defensive style. During that same senior season, Martin also averaged 3.5 blocks per game, which made him one of the most feared rim protectors in all of college basketball at the time. He went on to win National Player of the Year awards from multiple outlets and helped Huggins' Bearcats to the No. 1 Ranking in the country before breaking his leg in the Conference USA torunament.

Now, 18 years later, his son is being actively recruited by the same head coach.

As you can see above, Kenyon Martin Jr. will be making his official visit to West Virginia in late October. He recently decommitted from Cincinnati but is still considering the Bearcats among several other schools.

Martin (6'6" 185 lbs) has the ability to stretch the floor and become a solid wing player at the collegiate level.

The Mountaineers coaching staff is concentrated on the recruitment of five-star center Oscar Tshiebwe, but it's still going hard after Martin Jr., too. If both players commit to Morgantown, they could eventually follow in the footsteps of current standout players Sagaba Konate and Lamont West.
