WVU Eyeing Addition of Tight End Transfer?

More depth could be on the way for tight ends coach Blaine Stewart.

Neal Brown has publicly challenged Will Dixon, TJ Johnson, and others in the West Virginia tight end room to make a step this spring to show they are ready to play this fall alongside Kole Taylor and Treylan Davis.

If a step is not made, Brown will have no choice but to go out and add to the room, and he may do so regardless.

Recently, Wagner tight end transfer Justin Wolf released his top six schools which consists of Alabama, Kansas State, Syracuse, Texas A&M, UCLA, and West Virginia.

“WVU has a huge potential on their future. The coaches are a huge reason why I am interested in their program,” Wolf told me. “The opportunity they will give me at that program is one of the best. I know I will learn and grow at this program with all of the knowledge and experience that is shared with me.”

Wolf appeared in 21 games over his last three years, reeling in seven passes for 51 yards and a score. Don’t be turned off by the stats, though. Wagner has had issues in the passing game, starting four different quarterbacks in three years - all of which failed to complete more than 57% of passes. The talent is there, Wolf just needs the opportunity.

The two sides are working out the details for a spring visit with a decision likely to come later this month.

Wolf has two years of eligibility remaining.
