Fortnite Chapter 5: Season 2 is kicking off its latest update with the man with the golden touch known as Midas. First introduced in Fortnite all the way back in Chapter 2 in 2020, Midas has broken out of his cell and is back with a vengeance, bringing along one of the stranger Fortnite collaborations with Midas Presents: Floor is Lava.

Like other Fortnite seasonal events, Fortnite's Rise of Midas update will be divided into different weekly quests that will drop throughout the month of March. The new game mode, Floor is Lava, causes dangerous lava to erupt from volcanos and rise from the oceans in the game, giving squads a new environmental threat to look out for.

Much like the regular battle royale mode, winning Midas Presents: Floor is Lava is harder than it seems. You'll need to survive against the other players on the map, with the added threat of rising lava. Currently, the game mode is locked for squads only. Before queuing for a match, there are a few key details to keep in mind.

  • It's possible to build on the lava.
  • Touching the lava won't kill you immediately; it'll just cause damage.
  • Players earn free building materials over time in this game mode.

How To Win Fortnite The Floor Is Lava Easily

An easy way to win Fortnite V29.01 Floor is Lava by outlasting enemies and not engaging in battles until the very end. Although hunting down nearby threats and taking them out like an S-tier player is more than possible for veterans, people playing The Floor is Lava game mode tend to die accidentally as the lava rises, making outlasting others easy as long as you can survive.

The lava won't rise on the map immediately — a warning will appear on your screen on the third Storm Eye Shrinking warning. Players should stay away from populated areas if they aren't good at combat to survive these early stages and stay on the outskirts. Avoid places like Mount Olympus and Pleasant Piazza and stick to smaller points of interest. Once this timer counts down, volcanos around the island will start to erupt, covering the map in lava.

Useful items to have toward the end of the game include a lot of the new items introduced in Chapter 5, like Wings of Icarus and Thunderbolt of Zeus, as the former enables characters to stay up in the air once everything is covered in lava and the Thunderbolt can easily take down enemy structures, plunging them into the lava below. Realistically, most end-game matches in this game mode devolve into trying to destroy the enemy structures and avoiding the lava, making the entire thing actually pretty fun and different from the main Battle Royale mode.

Fortnite V29.01 Rise Of Midas Quest Schedule

The Rise of Midas quests will be broken up into five phases and run from March 19 to April 2, 2024. Each new phase starts at 9 AM ET, so make sure to take advantage of the new Floor is Lava challenges while they are still around. The schedule for the Rise of Midas throughout March and April is as follows:

  • March 19: Midas Rises
  • March 20: March Et Tu, Brutus?
  • March 25: Jules vs. the Golden Touch
  • March 27: Myths of Midas
  • March 28: The Great Marigold Yacht Heist

Regardless of where you stand on temporary game modes in Fortnite, it's hard to deny that the Rise of Midas The Floor Is Lava isn't one of the more fun sets of quests that Epic has released in recent memory.
