Boxing Tonight (8/22/26): Cards, Start Times & How to Watch Every Fight Tonight

Boxing returns to the center of the sports world on Saturday night with another high-profile world title fight.
After over a year away from the ring, Rolando 'Rolly' Romero finds himself back in another main event, where he will attempt his first defense of the WBA 'super' welterweight title. Romero puts his belt on the line against longtime friend and former two-division champion Teofimo Lopez.
Romero returns as the defending champion, coming off a unanimous decision win over Ryan Garcia in Times Square to win the belt. Despite entering that fight as a massive underdog, 'Rolly' dropped Garcia early in the fight and cruised to a victory, albeit in lackluster fashion.

The fight marks Lopez's welterweight debut seven months after he lost the WBO and The Ring super lightweight titles to Shakur Stevenson. That defeat ended his four-fight title run at 140 pounds and convinced 'The Takeover' to immediately announce his decision to move up in weight.
Lopez pulled a similar move when he lost his lightweight titles to George Kambosos Jr. in 2021. He moved up to super lightweight 10 months after that loss with a seventh-round TKO win over Pedro Campa.
This time, Lopez finds himself immediately in another title fight with the opportunity to become a three-division world champion. He got the lucky break courtesy of his lifelong friend, Romero, who has openly revealed how integral Lopez has been to his becoming a world champion. Romero disclosed in a recent interview that Lopez once aided him financially when he was at a low point in his life.
Undefeated middleweight contender Yoenli Hernandez features in the Romer-Lopez co-main event, where he takes on Argentinian prospect Francisco Veron. Hernandez enters the fight with a 90 percent knockout rate and is coming off an impressive four-round dismantling of former title challenger Terrell Gausha.
Yoenli Hernandez has scary power. That's no secret. But what happens when the KO doesn't come? "El Diablo" showed us when he dropped Kyrone Davis in RD2, then outboxed him for 8RDs for a 100-89 shutout.

Before Hernandez and Gausha hit the spotlight, WBA interim super bantamweight champion Victor Santillan puts his title on the line against 21-1 southpaw Gary Antonio Russell. Part of the esteemed Gary Russell family, the 33-year-old seeks his first world title one year after his most recent win, an eight-round decision nod over Dervin Rodriguez.
All eyes will be on Romero and Lopez on Saturday night, but Matchroom Boxing also hosts an event in London earlier in the day. Eddie Hearn promotes a nine-fight card at the Copper Box Arena, headlined by undefeated middleweight George Liddard taking on Dario Morello.
Liddard, 14-0, looks to add the EBU European middleweight title to his resume after capturing the BBBofC British, Commonwealth Boxing Council and the IBF intercontinental titles to his arsenal. The 24-year-old Essex native is the No. 6-ranked IBF 160-pound contender as he prepares for his third consecutive 12-round fight.

Joining the Matchroom Boxing fight card are undefeated prospects Jimmy Sains (12-0), Leli Buttigieg (11-0) and Tiah-Mai Ayton (6-0). The 20-year-old Ayton seeks her sixth knockout in seven fights in her vacant Commonwealth female featherweight title fight with southpaw Ellie Hellewell on the undercard.
