College football transfer Damien Martinez sets 5 visits

One of the best players in the college football transfer portal is getting some attention from major programs this spring.

Damien Martinez was one of the more notable names to enter the college football transfer portal after the spring transfer window opened this week, and now the former Oregon State running back is getting some attention, with up to five visits already scheduled with programs soon.

The former Beavers standout will take a tour of some SEC schools, one in the Big 12, and another in the ACC over the next few weeks.

Arizona is up first for Martinez, who will see the school on April 17-18, followed by a trip to Mississippi State on April 19-20, with a date at Tennessee after that on April 21-22, and then to Kentucky on April 23-24, culminating in a visit to Miami on April 25-27.

College Football HQ identified three of those schools -- Kentucky, Tennessee, and Miami -- as possible destinations for Martinez, as those three programs are in the market for a game-changing back, and the Hurricanes, in particular, are expected to be highly interested.

Martinez is a consensus top-five player in the national transfer portal player rankings when taking an average of various recruiting services, and ranks No. 2 in our own player poll this spring.

He ran for 1,185 yards and nine touchdowns a year ago for Oregon State, eclipsing 100 yards in six games, including in a close game against eventual national-title runner-up Washington in which Martinez scored twice and covered 167 yards rushing.
