Former college football player, NFL first-rounder Jeff Gladney dies at 25

Jeff Gladney, a former cornerback at TCU who was a first-round NFL Draft pick, died in a car accident at the age of 25, his agent confirmed.

Gladney was a four-year starter at TCU and played in the 2020 Senior Bowl before the Minnesota Vikings picked him with the No. 31 overall selection.

He started 15 games for the Vikings and played in 16 matchups before being signed by the Arizona Cardinals. Gladney was on the field with the Cardinals during recent organized team activities.

Gladney turned himself into police in Texas and was arrested on a domestic violence charge in April, 2021.

He was indicted on Aug. 3 and the Vikings released him on the same day. Gladney did not play during the 2021 NFL season.

He was found not guilty of those charges in March and signed with Arizona afterwards.

Gladney emerged as a future NFL Draft pick during his junior season at TCU, and played his senior campaign despite a meniscus injury. He recorded five interceptions during his career with the Horned Frogs.
