Oklahoma Football Fans Furious After April Fools' Joke

For a moment there, it looked like five-star defensive lineman David Stone, Jr. was a bona fide commit for Oklahoma football in 2023.
But all the Sooner fans who had seen the announcement forgot to check the calendar.
In a now-deleted tweet, Stone shared an image of himself in an Oklahoma football uniform with the caption: "Breaking News: 5-star DL David Stone Has Committed to Oklahoma."
But that post was followed by another, saying: "April fools. I didn't make it but it had me convinced sorry."

Some OU fans in the comments were thrilled with the false alarm.
"Are you 10 years old? Grow up," one fan said.
Another responded, "Unfollowed. Go play for A&M Mr. Attention."

David Stone recruiting profile
Three of the major recruiting services call Stone a five-star prospect, with ESPN the lone standout, naming the lineman a four-star recruit on its board.
But the four-letter network was more generous in ranking him overall, naming Stone the No. 1 defensive line prospect in the country and the No. 14 player nationally.
Rivals and 247Sports both call Stone the No. 2 player at his position and the No. 3 prospect from the state of Florida, where he plays at IMG Academy.
On3 Sports Recruiting Prediction Machine projects Michigan State has the inside track to earn Stone's pledge, with a 43.9 percent likelihood.
But the Sooners aren't far behind on the RPM, earning a 38.1 percent shot from the analysts to sign the Oklahoma City native.
247Sports recruiting analyst Andrew Ivins calls Stone "a disruptive force in the middle that wins with an explosive get-off and heavy hands."
He added that Stone is "the type of interior lineman that offers plenty of value as a pass rusher as he quickly shoots into the backfield and gets to work."
