Sherrone Moore promoted at Michigan, but there's one big risk involved

Ever since Jim Harbaugh announced he was leaving for the NFL, the clear favorite to replace him as Michigan head football coach was current offensive coordinator, and briefly interim coach, Sherrone Moore. And while the school made that official recently, promoting Moore to head coach permanently could come with some risk.
That's because of the ongoing NCAA investigation into the alleged sign-stealing scheme at Michigan that saw Harbaugh suspended by the Big Ten for those three games that Moore served as interim coach.
The problem is, whatever ruling the NCAA eventually hands down to Michigan for the 2024 football season, Moore could also find himself targeted for punishment. That is, if it determines he knew anything about it.

"When the NCAA gets around to it, Moore will be part of whatever it is," Sports Illustrated' Richard Johnson said on Split Zone Duo.
"My opinion on the whole Stalions-Gate is you could and can convince me that Jim Harbaugh did not know what Connor Stalions was doing. But you can't convince me the coordinators didn't know. And because of that, I do think Sherrone Moore could have some implication when all is said and done. So it's not completely without risk."
