Ohio State football player Carnell Tate's mother killed in drive-by shooting

Ashley Griggs, the mother of Ohio State Buckeyes football player Carnell Tate, was killed in a drive-by shooting in Chicago over the weekend, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed.
Police said they responded to reports of someone being shot after 2 a.m. in the area and when they arrived had found a woman who was shot multiple times. She was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Four other people were injured in the shooting, all of whom are in fair condition.
Authorities said one of the other victims reported that the shooter was in a moving car when they opened fire on the people. No suspects are currently in custody.
Tate is a former four-star recruiting prospect from Chicago, ranked as the No. 3 wide receiver nationally according to 247Sports, playing his later high school football career at IMG Academy in Florida where he transferred before the start of his junior season.
South Florida Express, Tate's former 7-on-7 team, paid tribute to Griggs, along with others.
