Jimbo Fisher comes into the 2023 season as the head coach arguably under the most pressure of any in the SEC to do something big and get the Texas A&M program back in conference title and College Football Playoff contention. So far, the results haven't been there, and he knows exactly what people are saying about his job security.

After winning just five games total and only two in SEC play last season, Fisher has to take a big step forward or risk getting that $70 million buyout earlier than he thought.

"I don't worry about that, I don't worry about losing my job," Fisher said in conversation with Paul Finebaum. "I worry about not doing a good job for our players and our fans, and the people on our support staff who count on us every day to keep a job. That's what motivates me and drives me."

Fisher led the Aggies to a 9-1 record in the Covid-19 season of 2020, finishing at No. 4 in the AP and Coaches polls, but placed just outside the top four of the College Football Playoff rankings. A&M was 8-4 the year after and 5-7 last fall.

"I don't worry about myself," he said. "I've never worried about myself, whether I have a one-year contract or a 10-year contract. I'm worried about the people who work under us, the players having a great experience winning, and our fans getting a great program, which they deserve. And the alumni base and all that stuff. The rest of that stuff, you don't control that. I can control the other."
