Texas A&M wide receiver out for months with injury: report

Texas A&M wide receiver Jabre Barber is likely to miss several months of action after suffering an injury.

Mike Elko's first offense at Texas A&M suffered a notable loss recently as wide receiver Jabre Barber is expected to miss several months after undergoing foot surgery, according to media reports.

The transfer from Troy had emerged as a prominent receiving option for the Aggies' offense and was a promising option in the team's punt return specialist unit.

Barber led Troy in most receiving categories a year ago as a junior, catching 75 passes for 999 yards and scoring five touchdowns, adding 16 punt returns and three kickoff return attempts.

It is unknown is Barber, a former three-star recruit from Alabama, will be healed in time for the football season.

Texas A&M went 7-6 overall last season, including a 4-4 mark against SEC opponents, resulting in the dismissal of head coach Jimbo Fisher.

The school replaced him with Elko, the former Duke head coach who went 16-9 the last two seasons, and who inherits a highly promising roster heading into an expanded SEC this season.
