Baltimore Orioles' Offense Slugs its Way into Record Books on Saturday

By putting up 13 runs in a win vs. the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday, the Baltimore Orioles continue to show why they are a bona-fide World Series contender this year. Baltimore has dominated the Angels over the first two games of the season and has made history in the process.

The Baltimore Orioles pummeled the Los Angeles Angels for the second consecutive game on Saturday afternoon, this time beating the Halos by a score of 13-4.

In the win, the O's pounded out 14 hits, getting multi-hit efforts from three different players. They smacked four doubles, a triple and two home runs. Anthony Santander hit his second of the year and Gunnar Henderson hit his first.

In addition to the great offense, the O's also got good pitching from youngster Grayson Rodriguez, who went 6.0 innings, striking out nine and allowing just one run.

Put all that together, and the O's have made some team history through the first two games of the seaosn.

After winning 101 games a season ago and capturing the American League East crown, the O's are certainly on the short list of favorites to win the American League pennant this season. With this offense - and the best farm system in baseball still stacked - the O's have the talent and resources to make another strong run this year.

On the other side of things, the Angels' terrible offseason continues to rear its ugly head. Not only did they lose generational superstar Shohei Ohtani in free agency, but they failed to sign Blake Snell, and clearly needed an ace at the top of the rotation.

The two teams play again Sunday at 1:35 p.m. ET.
