Chicago White Sox Place Slugger on Injured List, Recall WS Champion Outfielder

As he deals with an injured adductor, Eloy Jimenez of the Chicago White Sox has been placed on the injured list. In conjunction, they've recalled World Series champion outfielder Robbie Grossman.

The Chicago White Sox have placed slugging outfielder Eloy Jimenez on the injured list as he deals with an adductor muscle injury. In conjunction, they've called up veteran outfielder Robbie Grossman.

Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times had the information on social media:

"Eloy lands on the IL, Grossman here from Charlotte."

Jimenez's injury is retroactive to April 2nd.

Unfortunately, injuries are nothing new to Jimenez. He played 122 games during his debut 2019 season and played 55 out of 60 games in the COVID 2020 season, but since then, he hasn't appeared in more than 120 games in any season. He played in less than 100 games in both 2021 and 2022.

When he does play, he's one of the more productive players still left on the White Sox roster. He's a .274 hitter with 89 homers and 275 RBI. He hit a career-high 31 homers back in 2019.

This is a big year for Jimenez for multiple reasons. If he plays well, the White Sox could exercise their club option on him, and if he doesn't play well, he could find himself in the free agent pool next winter.

In Grossman, the White Sox are getting an 11-year veteran who has played with the Minnesota Twins, Houston Astros, Detroit Tigers, Oakland Athletics, Texas Rangers, Atlanta Braves and White Sox.

A switch-hitter, he is a career .244 hitter with a .346 on-base percentage. He hit a career-high 23 homers back in 2021 with Detroit and helped the Rangers win the World Series a season ago, playing in 115 games.
