Former Minnesota Twins and New York Mets Pitcher Sheds Light on Athletics' Ballpark Situation in Sacramento

While Oakland Athletics' owner John Fisher was praising the team's temporary move to Sacramento on Thursday, former Major League pitcher Trevor Hildenberger was shedding on some light on what the ballpark situation will be like there.

On Thursday, the Oakland Athletics announced that they would be temporarily moving to Sacramento for at least three seasons, beginning in 2025. This is all part of the build-up until the team officially moves into their new home in Las Vegas, hopefully in the 2028 season.

Athletics' owner John Fisher callously celebrated the move on Thursday, proclaiming he couldn't wait to watch stars of other teams excel in his home ballpark, but while he was doing that, one former big leaguer was shedding light on what the Sacramento situation will really be like.

Trevor Hildenberger played for the Minnesota Twins and New York Mets in his career, and clearly has some minor league experience in Sacramento. He posted the following on social media:

No family room, no mother’s room, no shade or bathrooms in the bullpens, only 1 shared batting cage. If you thought the coliseum facilities were lacking…

That doesn't paint a real good picture for the new home of the Athletics moving forward and it's bound to cause some problems for both the A's and their opponents. Furthermore, one would think that Fisher would want to finally spend to put a good product on the field before going to Las Vegas, but with conditions like this, who will want to sign with the A's from 2025-2027?

The 33-year-old Hildenberger spent parts of four seasons in the big leagues with the Twins and Mets. He pitched in 73 games during the 2018 season for the Twins and was 9-11 lifetime with a 5.52 ERA.
