Arizona Diamondbacks Continue Slide, But Corbin Carroll Joins Elite All-Time Group

The Arizona Diamondbacks are ice cold, but rookie Corbin Carroll continued his history-making rookie season on Saturday.

The Arizona Diamondbacks lost to the Minnesota Twins on Saturday by a score of 12-1.

It continued a more than month-long slide for Arizona, which went from first place in the National League West to 7.5 games back.

Arizona is now 57-55 after having lost eight of ten games. They also trail in the National League wild card race by 1.5 games.

Despite the struggles, Diamondbacks rookie continued his history-making rookie season which will likely culminate in winning a Rookie of the Year award.

Carroll went 0-for-2 at the plate but he did steal a base, which prompted this tweet from MLB.com researcher Sarah Langs.

Corbin Carroll is the 4th rookie with a 20+ HR, 35+ SB season, joining:

 2012 Mike Trout

1977 Mitchell Page

1966 Tommie Agee

It's been a special season for Carroll, who was also named to his first All-Star Game. He's hitting .274 for the year with 21 homers, 59 RBI and the 35 steals. He's carried an .875 OPS and is hitting in the middle of the Diamondbacks order at the age of 22.

The Diamondbacks and Twins will play again on Sunday afternoon at Target Field. First pitch is slated for 2:10 p.m. ET as D'Backs ace Zac Gallen pitches against veteran Dallas Keuchel.

Gallen is 11-5 this year with a 3.41 ERA while Keuchel is making his first major league start of the season. He was signed by Minnesota this week in the wake of an injury to righty Joe Ryan.

Keuchel won the Cy Young back in 2015 when he played for the Houston Astros.
