The Atlanta Braves fell on Wednesday night to the Boston Red Sox, 5-3, to drop both games of the mini two-game set at Fenway Park.

Braves pitcher Spencer Strider took a tough-luck no decision as his bullpen was unable to hold a lead. All in all, he went 6.1 innings, surrendering two earned runs on six hits. He walked one and struck out 10.

With his 10 strikeout performance, he now stands alone in Braves team history.

Per Sarah Langs of MLB.com:

SPENCER STRIDER

he now has 4 straight 10-K games, breaking a tie at 3 with 1996 John Smoltz for the longest such streak in Braves franchise history

The 24-year-old hurler is a robust 11-3 this season with a 3.73 ERA. He's struck out a major-league best 199 batters in 123.0 innings this season. Given the combination of offensive firepower, and Strider's ability to miss bats, the Braves are one of the select favorites to win the World Series this year. The Braves also should be getting back ace Max Fried soon to help the rotation.

Strider made his debut in 2021 and is a lifetime 23-8 with a 3.19 ERA. He's made 41 starts in his career out of 54 appearances.

The Braves will be off on Thursday before kicking off a weekend series in Milwaukee against the first-place Brewers. Friday's game is slated for 7:20 p.m. ET as Adrian Houser (MIL) pitches against Yonny Chirinos (ATL).

Houser is 3-2 this season with a 3.86 ERA while Chirinos is 4-4 with a 4.02.
