Atlanta Braves Strikeout King Spencer Strider Adds to All-Time Prowess

By beating the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday, the Atlanta Braves clinched the National League East again this year. The final score was 4-1 and now the Braves' next task is officially wrapping up the No. 1 seed in the National League playoffs.
The Braves win was propelled by another Ronald Acuna Jr. home run and another great start on the mound by righty Spencer Strider.
The 24-year-old, who is sure to get some Cy Young votes in the National League, went 7.0 innings. He allowed just one run on four hits, walked two and struck out nine. His ERA for the season is now 3.73 to go along with a 17-5 record.
His nine strikeouts solidified himself in baseball history as well.

The most elite strikeout artist in the game, he now has 259 Ks in 169.0 innings. Kevin Gausman of the Blue Jays and Blake Snell of the Padres have the second-most Ks, and they each have 217.
The Braves are now 96-50 on the season. They will get an off-day on Thursday before opening up a new series on Friday with the Miami Marlins.
Game one of that series is set for 6:40 p.m. ET.
