Baltimore Orioles Pitcher Does Something Never Before Done in Modern Era

In this story:
The Baltimore Orioles enter play on Monday at 61-38 and in first place in the American League East. After taking three of four from the Tampa Bay Rays over the weekend, they lead the division by 2.0 games.
Part of the reason for the Orioles success this year has been because of the contributions of young players like Adley Rutschman and Gunnar Henderson, but also because of a bounceback season from right-handed pitcher Dean Kremer, who has done a total career 180.
Per MASN Insider Roch Kubatko:
Dean Kremer was 0-7 in 2021 & is 10-4 in 2023. Per STATS, he’s the only pitcher in the modern era with a 10-win season within two years after a winless season of 10 or more starts. Stump Weidman did it in 1882 by going 25-20 following an 0-9 1880 season. The more you know ...

If it hasn't happened since the 1880s, that means it hasn't happened in the Modern Era, which extends to 1901, so it's been quite a historic turnaround for Kremer.
The righty is in his fourth year with the Orioles after debuting in 2020. He's actually continued to build since that 2021 season entirely, going 8-7 in 2022 before this year's wins barrage.
He's still got a high ERA of 4.80, but the Orioles have been able to cover him with their potent offense.
The O's will take on the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday night. First pitch is set for 6:40 p.m. ET as Kremer pitches against Christopher Sanchez.
