The Baltimore Orioles beat the New York Yankees, 14-1, on Thursday night to earn a split in the four-game series in the Bronx.

With the win, Baltimore is now 51-35 on the season and in second place in the American League East. They are gaining ground on the first-place Rays, who have lost five straight. Baltimore is now just 4.0 games back of Tampa. The O's also hold the first wild card spot currently.

In the win over the Yankees, Orioles rookie Gunnar Henderson stole the show. The talented former top prospect went 4-for-7 with three runs scored and five RBI.

With his impressive performance, he also joined a very rare club in team history.

Per ESPN Stats & Info:

Gunnar Henderson is the 3rd Orioles rookie with 4 hits and 5 RBI in a game since RBI became official in 1920.

The others: -Chris Richard in 2000

-Roy Sievers in 1949 when the team was known as the St. Louis Browns

Henderson did it in the first 4 innings.

Henderson is now hitting .246 this season with 13 home runs, 35 RBI and five stolen bases. After a brief call-up in 2022, the 22-year-old has run with a mostly every day job this year.

Alongside Adley Rutschman and Jordan Westburg, the Orioles have one of the best young position player groups in all of baseball.

The O's will finish out the first half of the season this weekend when they travel to Minnesota for a three-game series with the Twins.

First pitch on Friday is 8:10 p.m. ET.
