Boston Red Sox' Rookie on Pace to Do Something That Hasn't Happened in Nearly 60 Years

In this story:
The Boston Red Sox are in flux right now.
On the field, they've lost three of four and seven of 10. They've fallen to 74-73 and into a tie for last place in the American League East.
Off the field, they just fired Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom, who had spent nearly four years running the team.
Despite all the bad, there is something good going on with the Red Sox, and that's all the young players - including Triston Casas.
Casas went 0-for-2 in the nightcap of Thursday's doubleheader with the Yankees but he did register two walks, something he's very good at with his plate discipline.
Per @SoxNotes:
Triston Casas leads the Red Sox with 70 walks, most among MLB rookies.
Only 3 rookies have ever led the Red Sox in walks: Joe Foy (91 in 1966), Ted Williams (105 in 1939), and Marv Olson (61 in 1932). h/t @EliasSports

In addition to great plate discipline, Casas has become a force at the plate. He's hitting .263 overall but is hitting .298 over his last 30 games. He's got 24 home runs and 65 RBI and has found himself as a mainstay in the middle of the Sox order in the second half of the season.
If the Red Sox are going to turn it around next year, Casas will be a major part of it.
The Red Sox take on the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre on Friday night.
First pitch is set for 7:07 p.m. ET as Brayan Bello (BOS) pitches against Jose Berrios (TOR).
