Elly De La Cruz of the Cincinnati Reds Surpasses Barry Bonds in the Baseball History Books
The Cincinnati Reds beat the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday night by a score of 4-3.
The win moved the Reds to 65-61 and kept them at 0.5 games back of the National League wild card race.
Starting pitcher Graham Ashcraft made some baseball history in the win, but so did electrifying shortstop Elly De La Cruz.
Though he went 0-for-3 at the plate, De La Cruz stole his 20th base, which was the history-maker.

Since coming up in early June, De La Cruz has been a catalyst for the Reds turnaround. He's hitting in the middle of the order, posting a .254 batting average with 10 home runs, 27 RBI and the 20 steals. The 21-year-old has also posted a .759 OPS and joins a talented cast of Reds rookies to debut this year like Andrew Abbott, Christian Encarnacion-Strand, Spencer Steer and Matt McLain.
And any time you are mentioned with Bonds in baseball history, you're in esteemed company.
He is one of the most prolific hitters in baseball history, hitting a major league-best 762 career home runs and driving in 1,996. He also stole 514 bases, was a 14-time All-Star, an eight-time Gold Glover and a seven-time MVP.
Because of a weather-related postponement on Monday, the Reds and Angels are playing a doubleheader on Wednesday.
Game 1 is set for 4:07 p.m. ET while Game 2 begins at 9:38 p.m. ET.
