The Cincinnati Reds are rolling!

The Reds have now won six straight games and have pulled into second place in the National League Central. They are just 0.5 games behind the Milwaukee Brewers for first, and are tied with the Pittsburgh Pirates in second.

Part of the reason for the Reds turnaround is the infusion of young talent on the roster. Rookie Elly De La Cruz gets most of the press, but Matt McLain, Brandon Williamson and Spencer Steer are all contributing in big ways.

As is rookie left-handed pitcher Andrew Abbott, who dominated the world champion Astros on Friday night, going six scoreless innings, allowing four hits and striking out two.

In the outing, Abbott achieved some amazing pitching history.

Per ESPN Stats & Info:

Andrew Abbott is the 1st pitcher since the mound was set to its current distance in 1893 with 5 scoreless innings in each of his first 3 games.

To do something that hasn't been in 130 years of baseball is absolutely insane. He's now 3-0 in his young career with that zero ERA. He's struck out 12 batters in 17.2 innings.

Because he hasn't pitched enough to exhaust his prospect eligibility, he's still the No. 6 prospect in the organization, per MLB.com. He's behind De La Cruz (1) and McLain (5).

The Reds will put their winning streak on the line on Saturday afternoon when they battle the Astros again at 4:10 p.m. ET.

Another young pitcher, Hunter Greene, goes for Cincy while Brandon Bielak pitches for the 'Stros.
