Detroit Tigers' Lefty Accomplishes Something That Only One Other Tigers Pitcher Has on Thursday

In this story:
The Detroit Tigers beat the Oakland Athletics on Thursday 7-3. The win moved Detroit to 72-81 overall as they continue their organizational rebuild.
Oakland fell to 46-107, the worst record in baseball.
The story of the game was the work of Tigers' lefty Tarik Skubal on the mound. He went 7.0 innings, allowing no runs on two hits. He walked one and struck out 10 in moving to 7-3 on the year with a 2.95 ERA.
After missing a good portion of the season with injury, Skubal has come back in a big way, and Thursday's performance put him in history.
Per ESPN Stats & Info:
Tarik Skubal has 9 or more strikeouts and 1 or fewer ER allowed in 3 consecutive starts.
He is the 2nd player in Tigers history to do so, joining Justin Verlander in 2009.

Any time you can join a future Hall of Famer in team history, that's good company. Skubal is just 26-years-old and is a big part of the Tigers future, but unfortunately, he, Casey Mize and Matt Manning haven't been able to stay healthy.
For his career, he's 23-27 with a 3.91 ERA. He also tossed a no-hitter earlier in his career against the Seattle Mariners.
The Tigers will be on the road again on Friday night against the Athletics. First pitch is scheduled for 9:40 p.m. ET as 25-year-old Sawyer Gipson-Long (DET) pitches against Ken Waldichuk (OAK).
Gipson-Long is 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA while Waldichuk enters the game at 3-8 with a 5.40.
