Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran struggled in both 2021 and 2022 as he got a taste of big league pitching.

But in 2023, Duran has found his swing, and his ability to adjust, so that he can have more sustained success.

That manifested itself in a big way on Sunday afternoon in Toronto as Duran went 5-5 with four doubles in a 5-4 win over the Blue Jays. He also scored three runs while setting the stage at the top of the lineup.

Having four doubles is incredibly rare - even having three doubles put Duran at the top of a list in Red Sox history.

Per the popular Twitter account @SoxNotes:

Most games in a season with 3+ doubles (Red Sox history):

Jarren Duran (2023) Mike Lowell (2006)

Babe Ruth (1918)

Dwight Evans (1980)

Wade Boggs (1991)

Victor Martinez (2010)

Rafael Devers (2019)

We still have nearly half the season left so Duran will get many more chances to break the tie with Millar. He appears to have solidified a relatively solid everyday role and if the team is to trade Enrique Hernandez or Adam Duvall at the trade deadline, his role will get even larger.

After sweeping the Jays, the Red Sox are back over .500 at 43-42. They are in last place in the American League East but are just 3.5 games back in the chase for the American League wild card.

They are off on Monday but will be back in action on July 4 for a matinee with the Texas Rangers.

First pitch on Tuesday is 1:35 p.m. ET.
