Kansas City Royals legend Zack Greinke moved up an awesome list in team history on Wednesday afternoon in a game against the Cleveland Guardians.

Per the Royals on social media:

With his fifth strikeout today, Zack Greinke has passed Bret Saberhagen and now sits in 4th place on the franchise strikeouts leaderboard

Greinke now has 1,094 strikeouts in his career with the Royals, which spans two tenures. He pitched in Kansas City from 2004-2010 and then again from 2022-now.

All in all, Greinke has spent 20 years in the big leagues with the Royals, Brewers, Angels, Dodgers, Diamondbacks and Astros. He's 224-156 in his career with a 3.50 ERA.

He threw 3.2 innings against the Guardians on Wednesday, amassing five strikeouts while allowing two earned runs. For his career, he's a six-time All-Star, a six-time Gold Glover, a two-time ERA title holder and a Cy Young winner.

One of the most accomplished pitchers of his generation, he'll definitely be in the conversation when it comes to inclusion in the Baseball Hall of Fame.

This year has been a struggle overall for Greinke, as he's 1-15 with a 5.37 ERA over 28 games. He's struck out just 90 batters in 132.1 innings.

He's 39-years-old and will be a free agent at season's end.

The Royals lead the Guardians at the time of this posting and then will be off on Thursday. They'll take on the Houston Astros on Friday for the start of a series which has great meaning to Houston and the rest of the American League playoff race.
