The Los Angeles Angels lost to the Minnesota Twins on Friday night as the Twins clinched a playoff berth for the first time since 2020.

While the Angels won't be going to the playoffs, they are certainly getting positive contributions down the stretch from rookie Nolan Schanuel.

The first-round pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, who made his major league debut after just weeks in the minor leagues, continued the record-breaking start to his career on Friday night by going 1-for-5 with an RBI.

Per Sarah Langs of MLB.com:

Most consecutive games reaching base safely to start career, since 1900:

1984 Alvin Davis: 47

1918 Truck Hannah: 38

1938 Enos Slaughter: 29

1966 George Scott: 26

1961 Dick Howser: 26

2023 Nolan Schanuel:

25* * = active streak extended today

Considering Schanuel was playing at Florida Atlantic a few months ago and was just drafted in July, that's an incredible accomplishment. He's hitting .284 since his call-up. He's only got one home run and five RBI, but he's more than held his own against big league pitching.

The power has been a question for the lefty, but his ability to hit has not. He's still the No. 1 ranked prospect for the team, per MLB.com, and the site has lauded his ability to swing the bat.

The left-handed-hitting Schanuel has the chance to be at least an above-average hitter. He’s always had an advanced approach at the plate, drawing close to three times more walks than strikeouts over his college career. He’s grown into more power, going from 11 homers as a freshman to 16 a year ago and 19 in his final season.

The Angels and Twins will play again on Saturday afternoon.
