Los Angeles Dodgers' Freddie Freeman Ties All-Time Team Record in Win on Thursday

The Los Angeles Dodgers routed the Miami Marlins on Thursday night as Freddie Freeman tied the team's all-time single-season record for doubles.

The Los Angeles Dodgers routed the Miami Marlins on Thursday night 10-0.

The win moved Los Angeles to 85-54 on the season and dropped their magic number to clinch the National League West to nine games.

The loss dropped Miami to 72-68 and put them at 0.5 games back in the chase for the third and final wild card spot in the National League.

Outside of the standings implications, Thursday's game was huge for the history achieved during it. Dodgers star Freddie Freeman went 1-for-4 with a double, which tied the franchise's all-time single-season record.

Per @DodgerInsider:

Freddie Freeman has tied Johnny Frederick for the franchise record with his 52nd double. The ball attendant mistook it for a foul ball and tossed it to a fan at LoanDepot Park.

Yes, that was an unfortunate incident for the Marlins ball attendant. You can see that miscue here.

It's been an incredible overall season for Freeman, who is now hitting .333 on the year. He's got 25 homers and 91 RBI to go along with 17 steals. He owns a .983 OPS and is battling with Mookie Betts (Dodgers) and Ronald Acuna Jr. (Braves) for the National League MVP award.

Lifetime, he's a .301 hitter with 317 homers and 1,132 RBI.

The Dodgers will start a new series on Friday night when they travel to Washington to take on the Nationals. First pitch from Nationals Park is set for 7:05 p.m. ET.
