Miami Marlins OF Accomplishes Something That No Marlins Player Ever Has on Sunday

With a grand slam on Sunday against the Atlanta Braves, Miami Marlins' Jazz Chisholm Jr. became the first player in team history to homer in back-to-back games.

After making baseball history on Saturday, Miami Marlins star Jazz Chisholm Jr. was at it again on Sunday with some team history.

Per @MarlinsComms:

Jazz Chisholm Jr. is the first player in club history to hit a grand slam in consecutive games.

The grand slam on Sunday came as part of a 16-2 throttling of the National League East champion Atlanta Braves.

The win moved Miami to 78-72 and put them into a tie for the third and final wild card spot in the National League. They are tied with the Chicago Cubs, who have lost five straight games. Both teams are 0.5 games ahead of the Cincinnati Reds and 2.0 games ahead of the San Francisco Giants.

Chisholm Jr. went 1-for-2 with the grand slam, three walks, four runs scored and four RBI in the big day. He's now hitting .256 this year with 18 homers, 48 RBI and 22 stolen bases.

He's only registered 312 at-bats this year as he's battled multiple injures. One of the more enigmatic young players in the game, he's a lifetime .247 hitter with 52 home runs.

His great personality helped land him the cover of the popular 'MLB the Show' franchise video game this season.

The Marlins will continue their playoff push on Monday night when they host the New York Mets at loanDepot park.

First pitch is set for 6:40 p.m. ET as Jose Butto (NYM) goes up against young righty Edward Cabrera.

Butto is 1-2 with a 3.46 ERA while Cabrera is 6-7 with a 4.52.
