Minnesota Twins Get Seemingly Good Injury Update on Star Carlos Correa

Carlos Correa, who hit the injured list on Saturday for the Minnesota Twins, got some seemingly good news on the injury front later in the day, with his injury being reclassified. Here's the latest.

Minnesota Twins' shortstop Carlos Correa got some seemingly good news late in the day on Saturday when his injury was changed from an oblique issue to a mild intercostal strain.

Per Twins' reporter Do-Hyoung Park on social media:

The Twins have reclassified Carlos Correa’s injury as a mild right intercostal strain based on the imaging results. Timeline could be known later next week.

The change could be the difference of a few weeks in recovery time for Correa, but we won't officially know until later in the week. Correa was placed on the injured list on Saturday morning and joins Royce Lewis as big parts of the team's offense to be currently on the sideline.

Regardless of the official timeline, this is a big setback for Correa, who has been enjoying a nice bounce back year in the early going.

Correa is hitting .306 thus far with an .876 OPS. He has one home run and four RBI.

The 29-year-old is in the second year of his latest contract with the Twins and has spent three years now with Minnesota in total. He previously spent seven years with the Houston Astros and helped them win the World Series back in 2017. Correa is a Rookie of the Year winner, a Gold Glove winner and a two-time All-Star.

The Twins enter play on Sunday at 6-7 overall. They will take on the Tigers at Comerica Park. First pitch is set for 1:40 as the Twins send Bailey Ober (0-1, 12.79 ERA) to the mound against Jack Flaherty (0-1, 5.25).
