Carlos Correa's Injury Status Revealed Ahead of Twins-Tigers DH

As the Minnesota Twins and Detroit Tigers get set to play a doubleheader on Saturday, the Twins have placed shortstop Carlos Correa on the injured list with a right oblique strain.

After leaving Friday's game against the Detroit Tigers early, Carlos Correa has been placed on the injured list by the Minnesota Twins. It's a right oblique strain and there is no official timeline yet for when he'll be back.

Per Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer-Press:

Carlos Correa will be placed on the injured list with the oblique strain. He said they still need to talk through the imaging results before determining a timeline.

Depending on the severity of the strain, Correa could miss anywhere from a few weeks to more than a month. It's a big loss for the Twins, who are trying to repeat as the American League Central champions, and it's a big setback for Correa, who was enjoying a nice bounceback year in the early going.

Correa is hitting .306 thus far with an .876 OPS. He has one home run and four RBI.

The 29-year-old is in the second year of his latest contract with the Twins and has spent three years now with Minnesota in total. He previously spent seven years with the Houston Astros and helped them win the World Series back in 2017. Correa is a Rookie of the Year winner, a Gold Glove winner and a two-time All-Star.

The Twins and Tigers are playing a doubleheader on Saturday with Game 1 slated to start at 1:10 p.m. ET. Joe Ryan pitches for the Twins in Game 1 against Kenta Maeda. Game 2 features Simeon Woods-Richardson for Minnesota against Matt Manning.
