In this story:

The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the San Diego Padres on Sunday night by a score of 8-2.

With the win, the Dodgers have taken two of the first three games in the series, with the finale coming up on Monday afternoon.

The Dodgers hit three home runs in the victory with one coming from newcomer Amed Rosario and one each coming from Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts.

The latter home runs put the pair in history, as they've done something not done in more than 90 years.

Per ESPN Stats & Info:

Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts are the first pair of @Dodgers teammates to each have 60 extra-base hits through 110 team games since Babe Herman and Johnny Frederick in 1929.

Betts is hitting .285 this season with 30 homers and 71 RBI. He was named to the All-Star team again this year and has added eight stolen bases.

As for Freeman, he's inserting himself into the National League MVP conversation, which had been a foregone conclusion that Ronald Acuna Jr. of the Braves would win. He's hitting .339 with 23 home runs, 80 RBI and 16 stolen bases. He's sporting an OPS over 1 at 1.011.

The Braves are generally thought of as the favorites to win the National League pennant, but Betts and Freeman certainly give the Dodgers a chance to be in the mix come October as well.

They are 64-46 and 4.0 games up in the National League West. The Dodgers and Padres play on Monday at 4:10 p.m. ET.
