New York Yankees' Anthony Volpe Does Something No Other Yankees Rookie Has Ever Done on Thursday

In this story:
The New York Yankees lost to the Detroit Tigers on Thursday by a score of 4-3 but that didn't stop Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe from making some very illustrious team history.
Per Sarah Langs of MLB.com:
20-HR, 20-SB season in first MLB season:
2023 Anthony Volpe
2022 Bobby Witt Jr.
2022 Julio Rodríguez
1995 Marty Cordova
1987 Ellis Burks
1977 Mitchell Page

So Volpe is just the sixth player to ever go 20/20 in his first season of action AND he's the first Yankees player ever to go 20/20 in their official rookie season.
While the Yankees have disappointed this year, sitting at 65-69 and in last place in the American League East, Volpe's development has been a major storyline for the year. These reps are invaluable and if he can hit the ground running in 2024, the Yankees may be in a much better position.
He's hitting .219 for the year with the 20 homers and 57 RBI. He's also stolen 21 bases and was hitting third in the Yankees order on Thursday afternoon.
The former first-round pick has accumulated 443 at-bats this year.
The Yankees will start a new series on Friday night with the Houston Astros, the team that eliminated them from the ALCS in 2022.
First pitch from Houston is set for 8:10 p.m. ET as Carlos Rodon (NYY) pitches against Justin Verlander (HOU).
Rodon is 1-4 with a 5.97 ERA while Verlander is 10-6 with a 3.06 ERA. He's pitched for the Mets and the Astros this year.
