New York Yankees Star Aaron Judge Does Something Franchise Hasn't Had Happen in Nearly 20 Years

Aaron Judge did something that the Yankees haven't had happen since 2005 on Wednesday night in a win over the Washington Nationals.

The New York Yankees snapped their nine-game losing streak in style on Wednesday, pummeling the Washington Nationals by a score of 9-1.

Aaron Judge was the star of the game, hitting three home runs for the Yankees in the win. One of those home runs was a grand slam, which put him in a rare class in team history.

Per ESPN Stats & Info:

Aaron Judge has 3 HR in a game for the first time in his career. He's the first Yankee with 3 HR in a game -- including a Grand Slam -- since Alex Rodriguez on April 26, 2005.

Steroid issues aside, Rodriguez is one of the most talented players in baseball history, so to join him in history is an accomplishment.

Judge went 3-for-4 with the three homers, three runs scored and six RBI in the win. He's now hitting .279 this season with 27 home runs and 54 RBI. He's got an OPS over one at 1.051 but sadly he missed nearly two months with a toe injury earlier this year, which has limited his overall impact on the Yankees lineup.

The Yankees are now 61-65 on the season and remain mired in last place in the American League East. They have also fallen completely back in the wild card race and sit at 9.5 games back with under 40 games to play.

The Yankees and Nationals will be in action again on Thursday afternoon. First pitch at Yankee Stadium is set for 1:05 p.m. ET.
